College Park Living

Orlando’s College Park neighborhood is famous for its brick streets, towering oaks, and quaint, small town feel.  Many of the homes were constructed during the 20’s and 30’s and front porches, pitched roofs, and lap-board siding are the norm.  An early evening stroll means encounters with plenty of friendly neighbors.  Don’t be surprised if you receive an impromptu invite for a sit on your neighbor’s front porch to watch the sunset through the oaks with a glass of wine.

Many of the College Park bungalows have seen extensive renovations and expansions in recent years as younger families have moved in and performed masterful updates on the solidly constructed 80 year old homes.

Our first house was located in College Park.  I’ll never forget the looks on our parents’ faces when they saw the run down fixer-upper that Holly and I had just paid good money for!  We were so proud of it – and our folks were so afraid for us!  We had no idea what we were getting into of course, but a few years and many Home Depot trips later we turned it into something to be proud of.

There are lot of similar stories throughout College Park and the surrounding, older neighborhoods that make up the Downtown Orlando area.  Winter Park, Thornton Park, Delaney Park, Colonial Town, and other smaller areas all contribute to a downtown environment that features architecture and living that is reminiscent of years gone by.

We’ve really enjoyed living here these past few years and are honestly a bit biased, but who cares, right?  Check it out and let us know what you think.
