This is my Unofficial College Park Restaurant Guide.  Read at your own risk and keep in mind that I have no formal training in the culinary sciences.  I just like to eat and I want my food to taste good and I want plenty of it.  All of these are located along the Edgewater business district in College Park, one of the original Downtown Orlando neighborhoods.

KbarK Bar – K Bar proved to the rest of Orlando that College Park could indeed support a high-end chef run restaurant.  While I only pretend to have a sophisticated palette, these people obviously know what they’re doing.  K Bar is reserved for special occasions around our household, but if you’re not afraid to spend a bit – you’ll find you got your money’s worth at K Bar.  Original art work creates a unique environment.  Go ahead and get the filet – you’ll be glad you did.

College Park CafĂ© – this will always hold some great memories for Holly and I as we stopped in here the afternoon we bought our first house here in College Park.  It was the beginning of something beautiful, and to this day remains one of my favorite “greasy spoons” (sorry Adam!).  I love going out for breakfast, and you can put this down as one of Mike’s Top 5 Breakfast Joints.

China in College Park – Ever since my days of traveling in Asia I’ve had an insatiable desire for Asian food.  I can’t get enough of it.  China is a relatively new but is simple, stylish, clean, affordable, and the food tastes great.  Excellent lunch spot in the downtown College Park business district – if you can get a table.

Babbo’s – College Park’s premier Italian joint.  Located in one of the old College Park bungalows facing Edgewater, Babbo’s is just north of Lake Adair and offers an awesome street side, front porch dining and wine bar experience.  Calamari and bruschetta dishes are two of our favorites.

Alfonso’s – if there is a restaurant that put College Park restaurants on the map it is Alfonso’s.  If there is a better pizza to be found in Central Florida I’ve yet to come across it.  The owner was brilliant to expand this small pizzeria into what is now very hopping and happening pizzeria and sports bar, and quality of product didn’t drop a bit with the increased traffic.  Good luck finding a parking space in there on a Friday night.  Garlic rolls are great most nights – I’ve had a few stale ones on occasion, but the pizza is so good so consistently at Alfonso’s that they could yell obscenities to me and I’d still probably keep going on a regular basis.  I love this place.

Jax Fifth Avenue – Best sandwiches and beer selection in Central Florida.  No one else even approaches these guys.  This place reminds me a lot of my beloved Alan’s Cubana and Salty Dog Saloon up in Gainesville where I used to sling beers for a living.  Jax is a great spot for a quick bite, happy hour, or place to watch the game.  You haven’t experienced the place until you get The Legend sandwich.  For some reason they don’t require that everyone order it heated (they should!) because it is SO good!  Jax has about million different bottled and on-tap beers, and they know the importance of serving them at the right temperature (ICE COLD!)  I’m a big fan if you couldn’t tell.
